Get Your Dues On!

Well, it's that time of year--time to sign up for a new season of swim fun and watery companionship. That's right: It's dues time.

Paying your yearly dues is the best way to make sure the team keeps going strong: It pays for pool time, helps us keep the equipment up to date, pays for relays at team meets and even helps pay for this web site. What's more, you'd get a groovy new 2009 MGM tshirt thrown in as well.

This year, we're trying something new: In order to avoid exchanging soggy checks on deck, we're going to check out this internet thing try paying dues online.

This is a two-step process. First, get your USMS card online at the USMS web site. Next, pay your team dues right through our site. Click here to get started.

Please note: If you don't want to use a credit card, just select 'Pay By Check' when you go to checkout. You'll still need to register on our site, but rather than using a credit care, you'll be billed for the amount later. If you choose this option, make sure to send in your USMS card application, which you can download here.

So Long TYR...

Well, the TYR meet came and went last Sunday and we all had a blast. We had a decent-sized showing Sunday, with Emily, Mark Urban, Mike, John, Jolene and Mark coming out for a really nice, but low-key meet.

There were a lot of highlights, but one of the best had to be John Javorski's incredible performance in the 200 Fly, followed immediately by a string of quick-turn-around challenging fly events. I have some video of it that I'm planning on posting--you'll see it here first when it's ready.

Also: I know a lot of you have been asking about paying dues: That's almost ready, too. I'll have the whole thing up and running soon, so you'll be able to pay dues online right here. Shouldn't be too much longer--I'll let you know when it's ready.

Registering the team

Today, I filled out and sent in paperwork to register MGM as a club within USMS. When I hear back from ILMSA, we can start thinking about collecting dues. I'm certain you're going to be receiving some kind of email from ILMSA that chastizes me for not doing this sooner, but let me just say this: Whenever  you get an email from ILMSA that talks about team registrations, mark it as spam and throw it away. (More on this later...)
